Bonnie Galey died in her Ortonville home on March 20 after a heroic battle with triple negative breast cancer.
Bonnie was born Jan. 10, 1958 in McAllen, Texas to the late JS and Martha Barbee. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Pastor Bob Galey; two sons, Robert (Tiffany) Galey and Greg Galey; one daughter, Abby Galey; one brother, Charles (Paula) Barbee; three sisters, Martha (Hal) Jungman, Becky Eden and Betty (Brooks) Monk. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Barbee.
Bonnie was first a pastor’s wife, a mother and a homemaker. Before becoming disabled, she worked as a secretary for the Baptist State Convention of Michigan for 14 years. Bob and Bonnie have been ministering in Michigan for 23 years where they first served at Lake St. Helen Baptist Church in St. Helen and since 1994 at Oakland Woods Baptist Church of Clarkston. She loved God, her family and the church. She participated in several mission trips and loved to travel to historical places around the United States. She was the best wife, mother, sister and aunt any family could ask for. She was a gift to everyone who knew her and an inspiration to thousands who followed her blog about her faith and the fight she had with cancer. In the end, she fought the good fight and thanks to the grace of God, she won. Now even Heaven is a better place because of her. We love you Bonnie. We miss you and will see you again soon. A funeral service was planned for 10:30 a.m. today, Saturday, March 24 at Oakland Woods Baptist Church, 5628 Maybee Road, Clarkston with a dinner to follow at St. Stephen Baptist Church in Pontiac.
