Franklin H. Hitchcock

Died: Tuesday, January 01, 2013
Age: 86
of Davison, formerly of Ortonville.

Franklin was born May 16, 1926 in Ortonville to the late Frank and Emily (nee: Hodge) Hitchcock. He married the former Eva Beckman on July 12, 1946. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Eva; two children, Vicki Kymla and Rodney (Christeen) Hitchcock; one sister, Harriet Spencer; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime business owner in Ortonville having operated Frank’s Plumbing. Frank was a member of the Clarkston American Legion # 63, life member of the Davison VFW and Past Master of the Ortonville Masonic Lodge. He was a kind and generous man.

Elizabeth “Joyce” Bratt

Age: 86
Elizabeth “Joyce” Bratt, age 86 of Clarkston, formerly of St. Clair Shores/Grosse Pointe passed away peacefully on January 1, 2013. Joyce is survived by her son, Dr. John (April) Cowan of Clarkston, MI, her daughter, Beverly (Mark) Gabor of Traverse City, MI, two step-daughters, Sandra (Joe) Woolley of Salt Lake City, UT, Peggy (Jack) Nichols of Fenton, MI and step-son, Gary (Jennifer) Bratt of Warren, MI. Mrs. Bratt is also survived by 3 grandsons, Jesse Gabor of Salt Lake City, UT, Nicholas Cowan of Land O Lakes, FL and Nathan Cowan of Clarkston, MI, and one granddaughter, Deane Gabor of San Diego, CA. She also has 7 step-grandchildren. Mrs. Bratt was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Kenneth T. Bratt and a step-daughter Margie Howard.

A private memorial service will be held in the summer of 2013. Mrs. Bratt will be interred at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.

Ethan D. Schram

Died: Monday, December 31, 2012
Age: 22
of Ortonville.

He was 22.

Ethan was born Sept. 22, 1990 in Pontiac. He is survived by his parents, Gary Schram and Deanna (Samuel Michaels) Schram; one son, Ronald Ray Schram; one brother, Grayson Schram; one stepbrother, Eric Michaels; grandparents, Ronald and Judith Coombs; aunts and uncles, Renee Higdon, Annette (Eden) Diver, Angela (Kenneth) Davis and Mark Schram; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gary and Margo Schram.

Ethan had a passion for fishing that he shared with his son Ronnie.

A funeral service was planned for 1:30 p.m. today, Saturday, Jan. 5 at Coats Village Funeral Home, Ortonville. Interment will follow at Ortonville Cemetery.

Ellen Daneluk

Died: Friday, December 28, 2012
Age: 63
Ellen (Gotshall) Daneluk courageously fought cancer for more than a year and passed away on December 28, 2012 surrounded by family and close friends. She was 63.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, spending time with family, friends and her dog Mozart.

She will be greatly missed by her husband William; Daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Timmers; Son, Henry Herpel; Grandchildren, Alexandra, Adam, Grace Timmers; Henry Arnold; Chloe Herpel; and many friends. Ellen is now reunited with both of her parents George and MaryEllen Gotshall and brother, Thomas Gotshall.

A memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. June 15, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church ( 715 N. Lapeer Rd.) in Lake Orion.

ZUBALIK, Emily Marie; left us suddenly on Christmas Eve; December 24, 2012; age 40; preceded in death by her mother Beverly; Daughter of Ernest Zubalik; Sister of John (Michelle), Judith (James) Brooks, Sr., Maria Gemma (formerly Rosemary), Theresa (James) Radich, Ernie & Anne Zubalik, Mary (Mark) Dix and Amy (Joseph) Lucas; Emily was survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She had special love for her God-son Michael and Krystyn whom she helped raise, as well as her great niece and nephew Faith and Jope. Emily was employed at Ford Motor Company for the past year. Irene Rose Kotowicz, age 78, of Leonard passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at Crittenton Hospital. She was born January 18, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to Walter and Mary Kotowicz. Irene was retired from Oxford Bank. She is predeceased by her parents. Irene is survived by her sister Joann Carne and husband Tom; 2 nieces; 2 nephews; 1 great niece; 2 great nephews; 3 great great nieces and 2 great great nephews of Ishpeming, Michigan. Also survived by her brother Joe Kotowicz and wife Janet of Leonard, Michigan. Nephew, Jim Kotowicz and wife Melanie; 3 great nieces and 1 great nephew of St. Johns, Michigan. Nephew, John Kotowicz and wife Rachel and 1 great niece of Leonard, Michigan. Also survived by her Aunt Lillian Strzempek of St. Clair Shores along with many cousins and friends. Patricia A. Frank

Died: Monday, December 24, 2012
Age: 78
of East Lansing, formerly of Holly.

Pat was born in Akron, Ohio on March 9, 1934 the daughter of Ruhl and Mary (Pfautz) Carper. She was a member of the Holly Presbyterian Church and she touched many lives as a former school teacher in the Akron School District and as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselor at Interval Brotherhood Homes and Edwin Shaw Hospital in Akron. She brightened the world with her smile, compassion and grace.

Surviving are two children, Cathy (Rob) Privette of East Lansing and Michael (Vicky) Frank of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, Sarah and Franklin Privette; former husband, Mike Frank of Canton, Ohio; and many friends at Holly Woodlands and Burcham Hills Retirement Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holly Presbyterian Church, 207 E. Maple St., Holly, MI 48442. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Holly Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Sharlyn Gates officiating.
