Thanksgiving

Ortonville- The Ortonville Community Emergency Fund food pantry needs volunteers and food donations for the annual Thanksgiving food sort and distribution, planned for Nov. 20-21.

OCEF provides food for families in need in the Brandon School District.

Donations fo the following items are needed: cake mix and frosting; canned fruit; cereal; cranberry sauce; evaporated milk; Jell-O/pudding; peanut butter; jelly; gravy/broth; pasta; macaroni and cheese; stuffing mix; muffin/quick bread mix; canned soup; tuna; corn, green beans, and other canned vegetables; toilet paper; and paper towels. Also requested are $15 Bueche's gift cards, which can be used to purchase meat and other fresh items.

Donations can be dropped off at Bueche's Food World, 400 N. Ortonville Road, at local businesses or schools with collection boxes, or at local churches, including St. Anne Church, 825 S. Ortonville Road.

Craft show

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Nov. 13, John's Steakhouse Pizzera and Grille, 8038 State Road will host a benifit for FISH to raise money for needy families. Pizza, breadsticks, raffles, bake sale, hand made crafts, woodwork and pottery. Details: 810-252-9587.

Ortonville Woman's Club

At 1 p.m., Nov. 17, the Ortonville Woman's Club will meet at the Edna Burton Senior Center, 345 Ball St. The meeting topic will be the Brandon Township Library. The hostesses are: Crystal Haase, Dolores Hoefelmeyer, Dawn Remick and Ruth Smith. The OCEF donation request is for paper products. All women are invited to attend. Details: Rose Marie 248-628-6378.

Community

Thanskgiving service

At 6 p.m., Nov. 20, the Lakeview Community Church, 10023 S. State Road, Goodrich will host a community Thanksgiving service. All churches are invited to attend. A community choir will perform under the direction of Sandy Martin at Goodrich United Methodist Church. All are invited to participate in the choir. Refreshments following the service

Vendors wanted

From 2-6 p.m., Dec. 3, the Ortonville Downtown Development Authority is looking for local vendors to be part of Christimas in the Village Santa's Shoppe. The booth fee is $30 and the cost to rent a table is $7, chairs are $1.50 each. Starting at 12:30 p.m., the vendors will be setting up at the Brandon Fire Hall. Sounds of the Season

From 1-2 p.m., Dec. 3, the Brandon Township Public Library, 304 South St., Ortonville will host a free holiday concert by the Classic Winds. The ensemble will perform a variety of musical styles, from classical to popular hits, with an emphasis on original music for woodwind quintet. Refreshments will be served following the concert. Coffee Club cancelled

The Ortonville Coffee Club, which meets from 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesdays at the Brandon Township Library is cancelled on Nov. 23. Details: 248-627-4332.
