The Citizen is recognizing our local military men and women serving our country away from home during the hoilday season by publishing their names, photos, and some information on each of them. Fish fry or

macaroni/cheese

From 4:30-7 p.m., Dec. 2, the Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 S. State Road, will host a fish fry or macaroni and cheese dinner. Preorder 810-636-2444 or 636-2122. Adults $8, Srs. (60+) $7, and children (4-10) $5. Carry-out available.

Vendors wanted

From 2-6 p.m., Dec. 3, the Ortonville Downtown Development Authority is looking for local vendors to be part of Christmas in the Village Santa's Shoppe The booth fee is $30 and the cost to rent a table is $7, chairs $1.50 each. Starting at 12:30 p.m., the vendors will be setting up at the Brandon Fire Hall. Miss Merry Christmas

From 10:30 a.m.-noon, Dec. 10, at the Brandon Township Public Library, 304 South St., Ortonville, Miss Merry Christmas will be performing her magic show, with a special visit from Santa at the end of the show. There will be free book bags and candy canes for everyone. A special musical performance will be presented by Lori Smithling's Music Studios Band, Winter Winds.

Sounds of the Season

From 1-2 p.m., Dec. 3, the Brandon Township Public Library, 304 South St., Ortonville will host a free holiday concert by the Classic Winds. The ensemble will perform a variety of musical styles, from classical to popular hits, with an emphasis on original music for woodwind quintet. Refreshments will be served following the concert. Festival Singers

At 7 p.m., Dec. 11, Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church, 48 South St.(across from the Brandon Fire Station), will host the "Festival Singers," a professional group that performs all over the Detroit area. The cost is $5 and all proceeds will benefit "The Heat Stays On." Details: 248 627-3072. Tickets will also be sold during Christmas in the Village.

Wild game dinner

From 5-7 p.m., Dec. 3, Oakwood Community Church, 5791 Oakwood Road, Ortonville will host a Men's Wild Game Dinner. Special guest speaker will be NHL All-Star Goalie John VanBiesbrouck. Tickets $5. Details: Stan Haack, 248-202-0705.

An Afternoon with Santa and Storytelling

At 2 p.m., Dec. 4, at the Ortonville United Methodist Church, 93 Church Street, the Community Toy Store Company will present "An Afternoon with Santa and Storytelling." Stories, ice cream sundaes, and Santa Claus are featured. To reserve a spot, please leave your name and the number of adult and child tickets you would like at 248-627-3125. Tickets will be given at the door the day of the event by reservation only.

Moms Club
