Lighted parade fills Lake Orion with good cheer

Chris Szadyr, left, and a fellow firefighter took a break from their normal duties to strut their stuff in the chilly streets of downtown. In sharp contrast to the norm, their truck was ablaze with light color and a penguin. (click for larger version)
December 07, 2011 - The 2011 lighted parade went off without a hitch or, should we say, power outage.

The annual event even managed to avoid rain that kindly disappeared before the floats began moving. The theme for this year was "Heroes and Vllians," and featured everything from the comic book variety to actual life heroes composed of firefighters, police officers and members of the armed services.

On top of having their heroes to pose with, kids and spectators alike were given candy and giveouts. It may have been chilly, but the many floats warmed the hearts of Lake Orioners young and old. The Lions Club's hot air balloon torch didn't hurt, either.
