The Goodrich boys basketball team will host a "Coaches Vs. Cancer" auction at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the Goodrich Country Club, 10080 Hegel Road.

Warm-up shirts are being auctioned to be worn at the Coaches Vs. Cancer game, planned for Jan. 20. Honor a friend or family member who has battled cancer. All proceeds will be donated to David Barns and the American Cancer Society in honor of David Barns. Details: Betty Griffiths at 810-591-2251.

Beef pastie sale

Avalon Hospice needs volunteers

Goodrich, Hadley and Ortonville area hospice patients are looking for friendly people from the area to sit with them, watch movies, read to to them or just listen and share stories of the past or present. Volunteers with special skills such as beauticians, pet therapists or musicians are needed to share their talents and services. Volunteers will also be provided with the necessary training at a convenient location—to ensure the best possible volunteer experience.

Volunteer hours are flexible.

Speed limits on gravel roads
