January 25, 2012 - Coffee hour

Euchre tournament

At 3 p.m. (cards start at 4 p.m.), Feb. 12, the Goodrich Varsity Hockey Team is hosting a euchre tournament at the Goodrich Country Club, 10080 Hegel Road, Goodrich. Cost is $20 per player and includes a Mexican buffet. Cash prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Bring quarters. You must be 21 to participate. Seats are limited. 810-252-0800.

Library hours

Brandon Twp.- Due to declining operating revenue, the library, 304 South St., is closed Fridays and Sundays. The library is open 9 a.m.- 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Details: 248-627-1460.


From 9 a.m-1 p.m., March 10, the Goodrich Class of 2012 will host a spring Mom2Mom sale tables are available for moms to sell gently used children's items and maternity wear. Vendors with items or services related to children and women's interests are welcome.Table rental is $15 for an 8' table. Spaces for your clothing racks are offered for $5 each. Sign-ups are being taken for STARS, and after-school reading support program for second through fifth grade students in the Brandon School District. STARS is planned for 4:05 p.m.-4:50 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 7 through March 15 at Oakwood Elementary. Details: Gail Innis, 248-627-1800.

Art of Marriage

On Feb. 10-11, The Oakwood Community Church, 5791 Oakwood Road, Ortonville, will host The Art of Marriage. For more than three decades, FamilyLife has been helping couples understand God's design for relationships. Now, in this fresh new video guided event, couples have the opportunity to look at their relationship in a new way. Weaving instruction from pastors and Bible teachers together with stories, humorous vignettes, and man-on-the-street interviews. Avalon Hospice needs volunteers

Goodrich, Hadley and Ortonville area hospice patients are looking for friendly people from the area to sit with them, watch movies, read to to them or just listen and share stories of the past or present. Volunteers with special skills such as beauticians, pet therapists or musicians are needed to share their talents and services. Volunteers will also be provided with the necessary training at a convenient location—to ensure the best possible volunteer experience.

Kindergarten round-up

From March 26-30, Goodrich Area Schools will have registration for new kindergarteners. The round-up nights will be May 1 and May 3. An informational night is planned from 6:30-7:30 p.m., March 13 at the Reid Media Center, 7501 Seneca St., Goodrich. Details: 810-591-3455.
