February 15, 2012 - Clarkston Optimist Club presented Student Citizen of the Month awards to Bailey Lake Elementary fourth grader Lexi Ferguson and Lauren Pletcher, student at Clarkston Elementary.

"I just enjoy each day, the teachers are so nice," Pletcher said.

"She shows concern for her fellow students every day," said Principal Brian Adams, Clarkston Elementary. "She is an inspiration, with her compassion, kindness, and love. She's driven to do best and brightens each day with her smile."

Ferguson wants to helps her school be better.

"I always try to do my best to try to influence other kids so they can learn how to be good citizens," Ferguson said.

"She is a perfect model student, an example of what great parents can do," said Principal Glenn Gualtieri, Bailey Lake Elementary. "Before, during and after school, you can find her here volunteering with her family she's honest, caring, kind hearted, a role model."
