From 12:30 a.m.-6 a.m., May 20, a power outage is scheduled to take place for Atlas Township residents.

Fishing Derby

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 26, at 6424 Hickory Drive, Goodrich, the seventh annual Hickory Pond Fishing Derby and Family Fun Day will be held. This is for families with special needs children to come and share the joy of fishing with other children. Details: 248-245-1798.

Garage sale

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 1, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 2, at the Old Town Hall, 486 Mill St., Ortonville, a garage sale to support the Brandon Choir Boosters will be held. Donations can be dropped off at the hall anytime after noon on May 31, June 1, and June 2. There will also be a can and bottle drive for the teens. CreekFest volunteers

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 2, the CreekFest committee for the Ortonville DDA will need friendly, mature teen volunteers ages 15 to 18 to assist with the many adult and children's activities in downtown Ortonville. Details: Molly LaLone at

Breakfast Club

The Village Kids Breakfast Club (VKBC) has collected boxes of cereal and is going forward with its plans to provide breakfast to children who qualify for free and reduced breakfasts an opportunity for a free breakfast this summer. Cereal may be dropped off at area busnesses including Bueche's, Clarkston Brandon Community Credit Union, Brandon Fire Department Station #1, Mabelena's, the Village of Ortonville, Art of Life, Brandon Township, and Ortonville United Methodist Church. Also, there will be a cereal drop-off booth at CreekFest. Details: Betty Stewart at 248-627-3324.

Woman's Club

Beginning at 1 p.m., May 24, at the Edna Burton Senior Center, 345 Ball St, Ortonville, an Ortonville Woman's Club meeting will take place. It will be a potluck lunch, and OCEF is requesting donations of cleaning supplies. All women are invited to attend. Details: Rose Marie, 248-628-6378.

BEES

During May, the BEES program in the Brandon School District is holding evaluations for the 2012-2013 school year for children from newborn to 5-years-old with a developmental delay. Call 248-627-1800, ext. 1729 for more information.

Take a Bite Out of Cancer

During the month of May, First Impressions Dental, 1221 S Ortonville Rd. Suite D., is joining the "Take a Bite Out of Cancer" campaign sponsored by the Michigan Dental Association and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and offering free mouth swab tests to join the bone marrow registry in an effort to find matches. There's no appointment needed. Business hours are Mon., 7:30-6:00 p.m., Tues., 7:30-6:00 p.m., and Wed., 7:30-5:30 p.m. Details: 248-627-3933.
