May 30, 2012 - Fans of country singer Maggie Rose like buying her CDs and T-shirts, but for many, a heart tattoo hits the spot.

"They're not permanent," said Rose, part of the Country Throwdown Tour swinging into DTE Energy Music Theatre, June 1. "We have awesome fans – we've handed out a ton of them. We personally apply them, which they like."

This is the first big tour for the 24-year-old singer.

"It's going great, so much fun," she said, riding the tour bus with Gary Allan, Rodney Adkins, Josh Thompson, Eric Paslay, Sunny Sweeny, and other artists. "We're getting along great, and the crowds have been very receptive."

Rose grew up in Maryland just outside Washington D.C. with her parents, Lizz and Steve Durante.

"My mom says I could sing before I could talk," Maggie said. "Whenever the family would get together, I would sing for them."

She now lives in Nashville, working on her latest tunes with producers James and Laura Stroud on Music Row.

"I feel like this music is unapologetic," she said. "I want women to hear this and be like, 'Yeah! Right on!' It gives women empowerment, definitely, but also I want people to be entertained by it. A lot of the music, for me, is very coming-of-age. It's about finding out who I am, not just as an artist, but as a young woman growing up, being on my own in Nashville."

The music event kicks off at 3 p.m. Check www.countrythrowdown.com.
