September 19, 2012 - Friends' Flavor Fest returns

Friends of the Addison Township Public Library present the 6th Annual – Friends Flavor Fest & Silent Auction and Wine Tasting. Mark your calendars for Thursday, Oct. 25 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

This special event will be held at the historical Addison Oaks Conference Center, 1480 W. Romeo Road, Leonard, Michigan.

This is a wonderful evening with wine sampling provided by Oxford Wine and Beverages, which can be ordered at a discount. The wine tasting is optional but we do have light Hors D'oeuveres to compliment the wines.

Lovely background music is played by the "Jazz & Tonic Trio" while you stroll through an exciting Silent Auction. Last year, there was a plane ride, signed sports items, football, puck and baseball, handmade pottery, photography, jewelry, golf packages and much, much more at our Silent Auction.

Folks can join the fun by purchasing advance tickets for $25. There will be no tickets sold at the event. Tickets can be purchased at the Addison Township Library or by mailing your request to P.O. Box 24, Lakeville, MI 48366 or by calling 248-628-7796 or 248-236-0599. All the proceeds of this event will benefit the Addison Township Public Library Programs and Projects.

The Friends are happy to accept any donations you may have for the Silent Auction. Please call 248-236-0599 or email friendsofaddisontwplibrary@yahoo.com

Pumpkin carver returns

The Oxford Public Library (530 Pontiac Rd.) is pleased to welcome back local artist and master pumpkin sculptor, John Bradshaw. Bradshaw will be doing a free demonstration on Saturday Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Bradshaw, a regular at Oxford's Harvest Time Farm Market, began his artistic career as a wood carver and sculptor in the early 1970s.

He has since branched out to include pumpkins and other vegetables in his artistic repertoire.

His trademark fanciful faces and designs are always a Halloween favorite.
