Special to the Review
Sunny skies and crisp fall air greeted the 600-plus people who participated in the second annual A Mother's Wish 10K run and 5k walk/run last Saturday. More than $23,000 was raised by the Lake Orion-based charity that provides financial assistance to local women with breast cancer and their families. Last year, 27 women received funds from A Mother's Wish. Lake Orion resident and Fox 2 health reporter Deena Centofanti was the master of ceremonies at this year's event. Winners of the 10K race were Rick Straughen of Rochester (men's) and Liz Henderschott of Ortonville (women's); 5K race winners were Parker Wheatley of Grand Blanc (men's) and Emily Olsen of Troy (women's).
