Brandon Twp. Board OKs new OCSO contract

October 31, 2012 - Brandon Twp.- Police services here will be provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office through at least 2015.

The township board unanimously approved at their Oct. 29 meeting a 3-year law enforcement contract with the OCSO. The agreement calls for 11.5 officers to be assigned to the townshp.

"I am very pleased with the contract," said Supervisor Kathy Thurman. "I think the Oakland County Sheriff's Office has done an excellent job for Brandon Township."

The contract, which covers 2013-2015, has annual increases of 1.6 percent the first year, and 1.7 percent in the second and third years. The township will pay OCSO $1,356,045 in 2013, $1,378,984 in 2014, and $1,402,649 in 2015. Those amounts cover everything that goes along with 10.5 deputies, including salaries, benefits, vehicles, dispatch, etc. The township contracts with 11.5 deputies, but the school district reimburses the township for the cost of one deputy who is assigned to be the school liaison officer.
