Clarkston Elementary students welcomed and thanked local veterans last Friday.
The fifth graders sang Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American" while sharing their personal reasons why they are proud to be an American.
They also treated their veterans to baked goods and Caribou Coffee. As students left the assembly, they shook each veteran's hand as a personal "thank you" for their service for the country.
