PC recommends PUD for condos

May 15, 2013 - The expansion of a condominium development in Oxford Township cleared its first hurdle last week.

Planning commissioners voted 5-0 to recommend to the township board approval of the proposed completion of the Hills of Oxford condo community as a Planned Unit Development (PUD).

That recommendation was contingent on some concerns raised by the Oakland County Sheriff's Dept., Oxford Fire Dept. and township planner, engineer and attorney being satisfied.

The Bloomfield Hills-based Robertson Brothers is planning to construct 53 detached condominiums on the 26.81-acre site located at M-24 and Indian Lake Rd.

Plans call for building 46 ranch units that are each 1,636 square feet in size and seven one-and-a-half story units that are 1,944 square feet each.

Combined with the existing 58 attached units that are spread out amongst five multi-family buildings, the Hills of Oxford would consist of 111 attached and detached condos should this proposed expansion be approved by the township board. That's much less than the 204 attached units the township originally approved for the site back in December 2003.
