July 10, 2013 - Construction's not finished yet on Dixie Highway, and Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce (CACC) asks residents and local business owners for help.

"Our Dixie businesses need support," said chamber Executive Director Penny Shanks. "Particularly our restaurants on Dixie."
To support businesses throughout the summer, the chamber has designated Tuesday as Lunch Rally Days.
Peg Roth and Dave Jackson said they attend the lunches to help support businesses through the construction.
"Trying to promote the businesses through a long construction project is a win-win for the business," said Roth. "It's a wonderful idea to have the Lunch Rally's at the restaurants and show we support them."
Shanks said construction has been rough for restaurants because customers cannot enter the property during road work. Driveways are shut down when crews move their equipment, and complete sewer and drainage work, utility upgrades, driveway approach, and catch basins replacements.
"Restaurants depend on steady business and when there is not a steady flow of customers, that hurts a business's bottom line," said Shanks.
Everyone is invited to attend upcoming events by visiting the restaurants scheduled for Lunch Rally's starting at 11:45 a.m. each Tuesday.
"Bring your co-workers, make an appointment with customers or clients, but get out there and support our local businesses," said Shanks.
The construction, which started in March, has snarled traffic along the Dixie Highway corridor and is expected to be completed in November. Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has invested $20 million for the nine- mile resurfacing project, which stretches from Telegraph Road to north of 1-75 in Waterford and Clarkston.
