August 21, 2013 - Show Wildcat pride take a ride

Skalnek Ford and Oxford/Lake Orion High School Cheer Programs are partnering to raise up to $6,000 as a part of Ford Motor Company's Drive 4 UR School Program.

Every person who test drives a Ford vehicle on Sat, Aug. 24 between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Oxford High School parking lot will donate $20 to the cheer program.

Each test drive lasts 7-10 minutes, participants must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver's license Make sure to register at the blue and gold table so Oxford gets the credit for the drive.

Oxford Youth Jam

Youth from Oxford area churches will be performing in Oxford Youth Jam, a Christian music concert held in Centennial Park at 7:00 PM on Tuesday August 27th. Vocalists from 11 years old to 20 years old auditioned to be part of the concert and will be performing some of the best contemporary Christian songs of the day. The concert will feature soloists Emily Bell, Kelly Caldwell, Sam Casey, Cassidy Chaisson, Aviana Paese and Alyson Ryskamp. Headliners selected for the event are singer/songwriter Mallory Skilling and Erica Mourad performing with a live Band.

Everyone is invited to bring a lawn chair and enjoy great Christian music presented by young gifted vocalists from Oxford. For more information visit oxfordyouthjam.com.

Nature programs at Seven Ponds

Seven Ponds Nature Center (3854 Crawford Rd.) in Dryden is offering its Knee-high Naturalist programs designed for children around 3 and 4 years old.

These programs are designed to awaken a child's interest in the world around them. All classes include a nature story, animals or animal mounts to touch, a hike, nature activities or games, nature crafts to take home, and a snack.

The classes meet once a month from September through May, on either Thursday or Friday from 10-11:30 a.m..

Pre-registration is required by calling (810) 796-3200. Parents can register for whichever classes fit their schedule.

The fee for each class is $7 per child (parents are free). Members of Seven Ponds receive a discounted rate of $6 per child. Payment can be made the day of class.
