January 08, 2014 - Goodrich- Ryan Starski submitted a letter of resignation as district school board trustee effective Jan. 2.

School Board President David Cramer said area residents interested in the position should apply.

"We are seeking those who will put kids first," said Cramer. "Ryan explained he was offered an opportunity in the Kalamazoo area and needed to relocate to the southwestern section of the state. Within the next 30 days we'll appoint a replacement to serve until November 2014. At that time the seat will be up for election."

Starski, a 2006 GHS graduate, won his six-year school board seat in November 2012 with 2,848 votes. Starski graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in public policy and public administration as well as a bachelor's degree in probability and statistics. Also in 2012, Starski sought the nomination of the Democratic Party for state representative of the 51st District which covers Atlas, Argentine, Grand Blanc, Fenton and Mundy townships and includes the cities of Grand Blanc, Linden, and Fenton, in addition to the villages of Argentine and Goodrich. He was unsuccessful.
