January 22, 2014 - Clarkston Junior High School History teachers, with support of the junior high PTA, invite those who experienced World War II to speak to their ninth-grade students, on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

"Sadly, some of the speakers who have shared their experiences are no longer with us, and we are looking for those who may be willing to come and share their memories," said Laura Murray, ninth grade U.S. History teacher. "If you know of anyone who may be willing to be our guest, please contact us."

The only criteria for speakers is that they have memories of World War II and do not mind sharing with a large group of students in the auditorium. The PTA will provide lunch for all speakers, and family members are invited to attend.

"We have had a variety of speakers, from veterans who bravely served overseas to those whose lives were changed on the home front during the war years," Murray said. "A variety of perspectives is always welcomed."

Over the past seven years, the program has provided a unique opportunity for ninth graders to experience history first-hand from people who have lived through it, she said.
