Forensics team winning more honors this season

February 12, 2014 - The Lake Orion Forensics Team competed in their second tournament of the season Saturday at Birch Run High School.

The team came home with two sixth place finishers: sophomore Josh Johr in Storytelling and junior Madison Rizzo in Sales.

Sophomore Charlie Rose placed fourth in Informative 9/10, while sophomore Owen Woityra captured third in Poetry.

Sophomores Meagan Wander and Kathryn Linehan won top honors in Duo 9/10 with a first place finish, as well as senior Shayda Soraya also finishing first in Sales.

The first place finishes didn't end there though as the team, coached by Lindsay Finkbeiner and Cathy Srock, also won the medium class division.

Previously, the team braved the wintery weather on Feb. 1 to travel to Seaholm High School for their first tournament of the season, FordFest. Finalists for the team included the sophomore pair of Meagan Wander and Kathryn Linehan, who took fifth place in Duo 9/10. Senior Shayda Soraya also took third place in Sales, while sophomore Charlie Rose brought home second place in Informative 9/10.

The team placed second overall in the silver division.

Their next competition is Saturday, March 1st at Dexter High School.
