March 19, 2014 - "The hierarchy of human needs is still the necessity for companionship, and connectedness."

After the loss of a mate, after friends and relatives stop calling to check on how we are doing, after loneliness sets in, after we realize that it is time to go on with life, what's next?

The Orion Center, located on Joslyn Road just south of Clarkston Road, is offering an On with Life/ Solutions for Loneliness series for area widowers and widows.

Sessions will be held on April 3 and May 1 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There will be speakers, area activities information, an opportunity to meet other widowers and widows who share your interests, answers for loneliness and practical issues.

This series, along with classes, groups, card games, and membership in the Orion Center are free.

There are new classes and new groups forming monthly. Some of those include:

Wed., Apr. 2- Hand and Foot/

Canasta class

10 a.m.-noon.

Wed., May 7- Cribbage class

10 a.m.- noon

Some more of the upcoming classes and groups include: euchre, pinochle, scrabble, backgammon, Cho-Cho dominoes, bid and whine, poker, and bridge.

If anyone feels uncomfortable about attending any of the above for the first time, please come and meet Jackie at the door.

She will introduce you to others and help you feel comfortable.

Call Jackie at 248-393-8553 or Anna at 248-391-0304 x301 with any additonal questions.
