May 14, 2014 - "We provide all the food , all the labor and all the clean up," said Kevin McCort, agent at Real Estate One in Clarkston, which donated all the food for the barbeque lunch at their office in downtown Clarkston.

For $5, visitors could pile their plates with hamburgers, hotdogs and side dishes.

The group raised over $260 for Special Olympics. Proceeds raised will also help create a gift basket full of Michigan made products that one lucky winner will receive during a June 10 Golf Outing also benefiting Special Olympics.

McCort said Real Estate One staff have lunch for a good cause about four times a year to raise money for various causes.

"We have a chili cook off in October and we also have a Thanksgiving dinner themed lunch and donate all the proceeds to a local food pantry," McCort smiled.

Around Thanksgiving the lunch has everything you can imagine finding at a Thanksgiving feast. In January or February it's soup and salad for the fundraiser lunch.

With funds raised from one of the lunches, the group purchased a wig for an employees sister who had been battling cancer and had to receive a lung transplant. The group has been doing Lunch for a Cause for the past five years. Employees from other downtown businesses also attended lunch.
