Community Wide Yard Sale &Art in the Park

June 18, 2014 - Brandon Twp.- Two common summer traditions— yard sales and art festivals— will be combined here next weekend.

The first annual Community Wide Yard Sale and Art in the Park will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 28 and 29, at the Community Park, 1414 Hadley Road, and sponsored by parks and recreation.

"I'm excited, we're trying to promote the park and bring in more activities for the community to enjoy," said Recreation Director Fred Waybrant, adding that the event will attempt to mimic Davison's Art in the Park.

Vendor space is available, with a $15 cost for a 10x10 booth. The cost includes both days. Buy three spaces and get the fourth free. All proceeds benefit recreation operations.

Visitors to the sale can expect to find a variety of goods, as well as unique arts and crafts items. There will also be a fun zone for the kids, with three to four inflatable bounce houses. On Sunday, a Goodwill truck will be on site to take leftovers from the sale as donations.

Waybrant said the park will be locked overnight and vendors can leave items in tents or take items and return to set up again on Sunday.

He is currently working on securing concessions. To provide concessions at the event, purchase vendor space or for more information, contact Fred Waybrant at 248-627-4640 or e-mail
