LO boys' swim team victorious

February 08, 2012 - Last Thursday, the Lake Orion boys' swim and dive team posted a 110-76 win over North Farmington, bringing its season record to 4-3. This was the group's Senior Night and they did themselves proud, claiming eight first-place and six second-place finishes out of 12 events.

In the 200-yard medley relay, D.J. Seeds, Craig Matola, Will Cavender and Brandon Nowicki began the meet with a .41 second win over North Farmington's swimmers. Devon Nowicki then came in first with a .12 second victor in the 200-yard freestyle race. Zach Diener and Seeds claimed second and third place, respectively, in the 200-yard individual medley, while Daniel Pecheniuk and Steven Abramczyk grabbed second and third, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle competition.

Competing in the 100-yard butterfly race, Cavender grabbed first by almost one second. In the 100-yard freestyle competition, Jacob Lindquist and Pecheniuk captured second and third, respectively, while Diener and Devon Nowicki easily out swam everyone by 15 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle race. The 200-yard freestyle relay saw Lake Orion victorious, with Lindquist, Pecheniuk, Abramczyk and Diener taking first.

The first, second and third place spots were taken in order by Seeds, Alex Palmer and Will Cavender in the 100-yard backstroke. Lindquist claimed another first place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, along with Devon Nowicki, Diener, Seeds and Lindquist capturing first in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Diving Team outscored North Farmington with first, second and third place wins by Charlie Maurer, Brad Horvath and Jacob Maurer, respectively.

That night, the Lake Orion swim and dive team seniors were honored. They included Steven Abramczyk, Will Cavender, Josh Greib, Brad Horvath, Nick Ludwig, Charlie Maurer, Jake Lindquist, Alex Palmer, Arthur Pawlikowski and Dan Pecheniuk.
