February 29, 2012 - It was quite the Oakland Activities Association tournament for the varsity swim and dive team.
The Wildcats finished second with a total of 442.5 points, 1.5 points behind Bloomfield Hills Andover. According to varsity head coach Jackie Rank, Oxford would wind up sharing the Blue division title with Andover since Oxford beat Andover in the regular season and Andover beat the Wildcats in the tournament.
Rank said the following athletes were also named to the All-League team: junior Jarred Butler (200 Freestyle, 200 free relay, 400 free relay); senior Matthew and sophomore Marco Campagiorni in diving; Joey Tasch (100 freestyle, 200 free relay, 400 free relay); freshmen Cheyne Stresky (500 freestyle); sophomore Erick Vandecar (200 free relay and 400 free relay); sophomore Blake Hibdon (200 free relay, 100 backstroke, 400 free relay).
In addition to the athletes' success, Rank was also named the Coach of the Year for the Blue division by her coaching peers.
"We had a great year and I am so proud of the boys," Rank said. "I hope that they will remember this feeling next year so we can take the title outright."
