January 09, 2013 - Despite a loss to begin 2013, the Lake Orion boys' basketball team is poised to challenge for the OAA Blue title this season.

The Dragons lost to a new and improved Clarkston squad, 55-45 in an OAA crossover matchup following the holiday layoff. The loss was only the Dragons second of the season as they fell to 5-2.

Lake Orion Coach Tom Risi was pleased with his team's play in the first half but said they failed to have the same intensity in the second half.

The Wolves took control of the game at the end of the second quarter when they went on a 7-0 run and then continued in the third quarter by scoring the first six points. By the end of the third quarter Clarkston held a 41-33 advantage and was in control.

Nate Marcum led the Dragons with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Dragons junior John McCarty hit for 11 points and senior point guard Damonte Kruse had 10 points.

Former Leader Editor Dan Shriner will cover Wildcat football this season.
