February 12, 2014 - Icers ended their trip to the Michigan Public High School Showcase with a 3-0 win over Canton on Sunday.

Roman Reiner led with two goals while Austin Fullmer scored one goal and had one assist. Chase Weidemann had three assists for the game. Jack Viazanko made 25 saves in the shutout.

"It was a good win," said Bryan Krygier, head coach for Clarkston Hockey. "Jack played well. He made a lot of good saves. Chase has been playing pretty well. He is leading our team with points and he contributes every night and every game for us.

"We were on them and we beat them to the puck," he added. "We had a lot more energy and we made their defense turnover the puck in their defensive zone by being on them a little bit more quicker."

The Wolves lost to Reeths-Puffer on Thursday, 3-2, with a goal from Reiner and Garrett Polish. Weidemann, Jacob LaPorte and Drake Gentile had one assist each while Nick Surovec made 25 saves in the net. The Wolves put a total of 29 shots on Reeths-Puffer's net.

"We didn't start playing until the middle of the second period," said Krygier. "We were down quick in the second period. We were flat and basically we weren't ready to play. When you play half a game and already dug yourself in a hole in the first period it is hard to come back."

The boys host Farmington United on Thursday at Detroit Skating Club, 6 p.m.

"We beat them last time," Krygier added. "They have a good team. It was a close game so I think it should be a competitive game. Hopefully we are prepared and ready to play when we hit the ice."

He added strengths going into the game are the Wolves' goal scoring and goaltending. They will have Surovec in the net for the night.

"He has been playing pretty well," Krygier said. "He has been consistent and goals against us have come down the last 4-5 games."
