Lady Cats put two more in win column

February 19, 2014 - The Lady Wildcats played their "best game of the season" on the hardwood, on Feb. 11, according to Team statistician Brian Murphy. The Lady's defeated the Richmond Blue Devils at home 47-35.

Three Wildcats scored in double figures and the team shot 48 percent from the field and over 60 percent from three point range. Leading the Wildcats with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists was Junior Jessica Murphy. Skye Donaldson contributed 14 points and 5 rebounds, and Senior Samantha Medici scored 10 points, including two key three-pointers to keep the Blue Devils at bay late in the third quarter.

The Wildcats led by six points at half time and the Blue Devils managed to cut the lead to three points to start the fourth quarter. However an 18 – 9 point surge in the final quarter sealed the victory for the Wildcats. In the loss Richmond was led by senior Haley Schweiger with 16 points and junior Carlie Thueme chipped in 11.

Brian was hopeful that the win would "carry confidence" into their match-up against Bloomfield Hills later in the week on Feb.13

His wish came true as the Lady Cats followed up their best game of the year on Tuesday with another outstanding effort defeating Bloomfield Hills 57 – 40 at Bloomfield.

The Wildcats(12-6, 6-6) struggled with their shot in the first quarter, but managed to claw themselves back to only a three point deficit by half time. In the third quarter the Wildcats turned up their pressure defense, forcing turnovers and outscored Bloomfield 22-5 to take a commanding lead into the final quarter of play. During the fourth quarter the teams exchanged baskets, but Bloomfield was never able to over come the deficit.

Leading contributors for the Wildcats were Jessica Murphy with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Skye Donaldson tallied 17 points and 6 steals, and point guard Cherilyn Banas pulled down 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. In the loss Bloomfield was led by Amanda Moss with 9 points.
