Making a big splash in tri-meet

February 01, 2012 - The Wolves picked up two victories last week.

The Clarkston Boys Varsity Swim team won all 12 events in a tri-meet they held at the high school on Jan. 26.

They beat Berkley High School, 142-44 and Southfield, 149-29.

The relay teams scored big during the night. Landon Holloway, Isaac Young, Patrick Bemis and Eric Misteravich started the evening by winning the 200-yard medley relay. Zach Rabideau, Dalton Pokley, Misteravich and Bemis won the 200-yard free relay.

Kyle Inch, Rabideau, Pokley and Steven Nelson closed the evening with a victory in the 400-yard free relay.

Individual wins came from Rabideau in the 200-yard free and 100-yard butterfly events; Holloway in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke event; Nelson in 50-yard free; Joe Zendejas in diving; Misteravich in 100-yard freestyle; Inch in the 500-yard free; and Young in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Inch's 4:56:94 in the 500-yard freestyle qualified him for the MHSSA Division 1 State Finals in March 9-10 at Eastern Michigan University.

The performance of the meet came from sophomore Mitch McLouth. He had never been under one minute in the 100-yard butterfly event the tri-meet. He finished the event in 56:63 - only a second off the state qualifying time for the event.

The victories put the Wolves season record to 3-5.

Clarkston heads to the in the Oakland County Swimming and Diving Championships this Friday and Saturday at Waterford Mott High School, 1151 Scott Lake Road in Waterford.
