November 18, 2009 - Josephine Auchterlonie of Clarkston danced her way to an armful of medals at Harvest Moon Dance Competition in Chicago, Oct. 9-11.

She and her instructor, Curtis Haremza of Elegance In Motion Ballroom Dance Studio, competed in Hustle, Swing, Rumba, Mambo, and Cha-Cha, placing first in each. This was Auchterlonie 's second dance competition.

"I like to travel to different states and compete in front of world dance champions," she said. "It's also interesting to watch the other kids dance and compete."

The competition was a three-day event with amateur and professional dance categories, with dancers ages 3-90.

"We are so proud of what she has accomplished," said Haremza of Clarkston. "It is so inspiring to see kids get out on the floor and compete in so many different styles of dance."
