November 25, 2009 - Students got an early taste of Thanksgiving, Nov. 19, courtesy of Clarkston Free Methodist Church. Volunteers served a full meal of turkey, potatoes, stuffing corn and gravy at Renaissance High School.

"We serve students and staff a Thanksgiving lunch to show the love of God," said Stephanie Mujais, lay pastor. "We have a great group of students here."

"It's always great," said Billie Pambid, program director. "The students get to mingle with a different group of people. It takes a village."

The church hosts three events a year, also including an ice cream social, and cider and doughnuts.

"Students are helping with a canned food drive for those in need," said Terry Porritt, paraeducator at Renaissance, Clarkston Community Schools' alternative high school, and member of the church. "Our goal is to feed 30 families at Christmas."

"They're doing a good job," Pambid said. "We're glad to help them."
