Looking for a new job?

December 30, 2009 - The Orion Township Public Library is offering Recession Seminars beginning Monday, Jan. 11. Seminars, hosted by Margie Butler, will focus on career solutions.

The first in the series, Resume Creation and Marketing Yourself, will provide an in-depth look at how to get the most impact with your resume, cover letters, and portfolios, library representatives said.

Topics include exploration of resume formats and content, as well as marketing talents, posting resumes on Internet job boards, responding to job advertisements, and getting a resume into the right hands.

In addition, facilitators will offer resume critique available upon request at the end of class.

The second career solution seminar deals with Job search methods and interview preparation.

Participants can learn about tools to find jobs not posted on the Internet, and how to target desired companies. Learn what employers are looking for, how to get a resume reviewed, how to give an effective interview, what types of questions to expect, and what makes a candidate get the job.

Also learn how to prepare for the interview by researching the company, preparing for any questions and making a lasting positive impression.

Resume Creation and Marketing Yourself takes place Monday, Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m.; Job search methods and interview preparation will be held on Monday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

The Orion Township Public Library is located at 825 Joslyn Road in Lake Orion. Both sessions are free and open to the public, but registration is preferred.
