February 10, 2010 - It's the classic story about two teenagers, Danny and Sandy and their friends, brought to life by the Clarkston High School Drama Club's rendition of "Grease."

"Over the summer Sandy meets Danny and they get separated," said Assistant Dance Captain Katie Hokanson. "They reunite, surprisingly."

Though Sandy is thrilled to see him again, Danny doesn't want to ruin his bad boy reputation with the new good girl setting off a school year of relationships, cool cars along with singing and dancing.

The drama club used the movie version and Broadway version, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey for their production singing the favorite songs "Greased Lightning," "You Are the One That I Want," "We Go Together."

Hokanson assists Dance Captain Tessa Cornwall for all of the dance numbers.

"Some of the dances are easy, but so easy it is hard to remember," Hokanson said. "The 'Hand-Jive' is one dance in particular, it is a lot tougher because it has a lot of partner work."

Kenny Nelson and Stefani Galik take on the roles of Danny and Sandy.

"Kenny is not only a fantastic singer and actor, but also a character. He puts so much of himself into Danny," said Hokanson. "Stefani has recreated Sandy. She is unbelievably cute when she changes Sandy's look at the end."

The remaining T-Birds are played by Dave Alex Seaman as Kenickie, Nathan Larkins as Doody, Max Hefty as Sonny, and Kyle Catalano as Roger.

"Dave Alex takes Kenickie to a new level. He puts the scary, creepy side into his character and also the feeling he really does care," said Hokanson. "Nathan puts his own style into everything he does on stage."

The Pink Ladies are Brianna Minando as Rizzo, Lauren Glowski as Frenchy, Taylor Brown as Marty, Anne Marie Hart as Jan.

"Rizzo is tough and Brianna isn't like that off stage. She is quite the actress. She is the best Rizzo I have seen," said Hokanson.

Hokanson added all the actors and actresses are extremely good and bring their characters to life in a unique way.

"It's a really funny play and the song are amazing," she said.
