Softball and Baseball

May 05, 2010 - The Lady Dragon softball team continues its winning ways, now at 10-5 for the season.

Wednesday, April 28, they hosted Farmington for two games. With Sandra Rippon on the mound, Lake Orion won the first game, 4-3, after going 10 innings. Farmington tied up the score, 2-2, in the sixth and the seventh inning went scoreless. Both teams earned a run in the eighth, making it 3-3, but the ninth was again scoreless. Lady Dragons stole the win and ended the game in the tenth. The second matchup ended more decidedly, with a 9-1 final score. Megan Dyer lead the team on the mound and ended the game after five innings.

Friday, Aril 30, Dragons split the evening with Troy on home turf. In the first game of the evening, pitcher Rippon was back in action and helped the team to a 4-1 victory. Dyer took the mound for the second game, though the team eventually lost after Troy got the game's sole run in the fifth inning.

The varsity baseball team went on a five-game winning streak. After their win against Troy Athens, Dragons smashed Stoney Creek, 12-5, April 23, Rochester, 5-0, April 26, and Troy, 7-1, April 28. The team's Saturday game against Davison was cancelled, with no make-up scheduled, yet.

The boys played Avondale and Rochester Monday and Wednesday this week. Check back next week for those results.
