Spencer Garrett was among 200 Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, May 6. He will specialize in family medicine. The new physicians will be taking internships and residencies at community hospitals to complete their education.
Lauren King
Lake Orion High School student Lauren King earned the Congressional Medal of Merit this year. Graduating seniors from the 8th District are nominated for this honor by their schools, based on academic and community service criteria. Each of
the students have demonstrated exemplary citizenship and educational excellence throughout their high school careers.
Ryan Dingman
Lake Orion Baptist High School student Ryan Dingman earned the Congressional Medal of Merit this year. Graduating seniors from the 8th District are nominated for this honor by their schools, based on academic and community service criteria. Melissa Hamilton
Melissa Hamilton of Lake Orion, is a candidate for a Bachelor of Arts degree in history at Alma College. A 2006 graduate of Lake Orion High School, she is the daughter of Robert and Linda Hamilton III, of Lake Orion.
Angela Bennett
Local student Angela Bennett demonstrated some outstanding academic work at Albion College's Elkin R. Isaac Research Symposium. Bennett co-presented an international business exercise done by Gerstacker students paired with students at an international business school in Versailles, France.
Bennett is a sophomore at Albion College with a concentration in the Gerstacker liberal arts program in professional management and the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Public Policy and Service. She is the daughter of Pauline Bennett, of Oxford, and a graduate of Lake Orion High School.
Kathryn Rice
Alma College junior Kathryn Rice, of Oakland Township, was one of 21 students selected for Phi Beta Kappa membership. The organization is the country's oldest scholastic honorary society. Rice is a 2007 graduate of Lake Orion High School and the daughter of Brian and Susanne Rice, of Oakland Township.
