Rocking & Raking success

May 12, 2010 - Dear Editor,

Saturday May 8, was a cold and blustery day and I was visited by angels. It was Bob Mullen and a group of teens from Hillside Bible Church. They were volunteers for the Rocking and Raking clean up for seniors and the disabled of our community. Their warm smiles and cheerful faces brought hope and warmth to a cold day. With their shovels, rakes, and willing hands they went right to work doing many tasks we seniors are unable to do alone. The group was eager and happy to help.

They wanted to know if there was anything else I needed before they left. I know this was a scene played out at many homes for many seniors. Thank you, Jeannie McCreery, for organizing such a much needed and worthwhile project.

Thank you to all the sponsors— the Edna Burton Auxiliary Board, Bory Landscaping, Tool Sports Sign Co, Hillside Bible Church, Seymour Lake U.M.C., and Frosty Boy of Ortonville. A very special thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time to help others.

Many seniors and disabled were helped by these acts of kindness and hard work. With deep appreciation, I thank you all.
