May 19, 2010 - During the summer, Clarkston Co-op Preschool invites everyone to Depot Park for some fun.

Every Wednesday, June through August, they will hold Story Time at 11 a.m.

The preschool teachers will read a story, kids will sing songs and make a craft to take home.

"We are very excited," said Marilyn French, teacher. "Teachers picked out books. They are really good read-a-louds and good for a big group."

The stories chosen have a broad appeal to both boys and girls and some are summery and friendship stories.

"We will also introduce stories the children haven't heard before," said French.

Jill Tice has worked on crafts the child can work on to go with the stories, including Stomp Art and Splat Art.

"We have a different art project every day," she said. "It's about the process and the product."

The idea for Story Time came as a way to let the community to learn about the preschool and give back.

"Clarkston is a great community," said President Holly Blose. "We have great teachers it will be amazing."

As the teachers meet area children they also get to see their students who ended preschool last Friday.

"It's not a 'goodbye' - it's a so long," said French.

Story Time will last for 30 minutes and is free to the public. Clarkston Co-Op Preschool is located at 6600 Waldon Road, on the north end of Clarkston United Methodist Church.
