May 19, 2010 - An Oxford Township man was arraigned on four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct last week after he allegedly sexually molested a young girl for approximately three years.

Joseph Hnanicek, 34, was arraigned May 6 in Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court before Magistrate Nicolas Camargo.

He's currently being lodged in the Oakland County Jail in lieu of posting a $250,000 bond.

He began his alleged molestation with the girl, whom he knew, when she was 10 and continued through the age of 14, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department.

An investigation ensued when the victim reported the alleged abuse to the sheriff's department, which obtained a four-count arrest warrant for Hnanicek.

He was interviewed by detectives from the Oxford substation and "made a partial disclosure of deviant behavior with the victim," according to authorities.

If he were to make bond, before he is released, he will have a GPS tether placed on him and must not have any contact with the victim or persons under the age of 18, according to deputies.

According to deputies, Hnanicek had four previous misdemeanors in his past.

He was charged with larceny in a building in Lapeer County in 1992 and in 1993 he was charged again in Lapeer County for possession of marijuana.

In 2008, he was charged with interfering with an electronic communications device and was charged with domestic violence, both in Oakland County.

He is scheduled for a preliminary exam on Tuesday, June 8 at 1:15 p.m. in front of District Judge Julie Nicholson.
