June 23, 2010 - Coffee hour

There will be a coffee hour at The Citizen 12 South St. Ortonville at 9 a.m., Friday, July 30 The public is welcome to attend and check out the new Ortonville 411 website. Details: 248-627-4332.

Fourth of July

The Citizen newspaper office will be closed July 5 in observance of the Fourth of July and will reopen at 9 a.m. July 6. 248-627-4332.

Substitute pay

The Goodrich School Board voted 5-0 (absent Board President Michael Tripp and Trustee James Bertrand) on Monday night to reduce the teacher substitute pay from $93 to $81 per day. Goodrich Superintendent John Fazer said the district will save about $25,000 per year. The district currently spends about $225,000 per year on substitute pay.

Coffee Club

From 7:30-9 a.m., June 30, The Citizen newspaper will host the Coffee Club at the Brandon Township Library, 304 South St. Come prepared to discuss what's new with your business and network with many area businesses. The event is free. Details: 248-627-4332.


On July 8, the Brandon Township Parks & Recreation will host a trip to Detroit's Motor City Casino. The bus will leave Ortonville at 9 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. Cost is $20. Details: 248-627-4640.
