Keith and Mary DeWitt of Groveland Township are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Ann DeWitt, to James Albert Snitgen, the son of Roberta Snitgen and the late Eric Snitgen of Bedford, N.H.

The bride-to-be is a 2007 graduate of Brandon High School and has completed her associate's degree of applied science in culinary arts at Johnson and Wales in Providence, R.I. She is employed as a chef at the Pickity Place in Mason, N.H.

The groom-to-be has also completed his associate's degree of applied science in culinary arts at Johnson and Wales in Providence, and is employed as a chef at the Airport Inn in Manchester, N.H.

An August wedding is planned.

Academics

Alexis Dickie, of Ortonville, has been named a recipient of a Faculty Scholarship to Grand Valley State University.

To be considered for a Faculty Scholarship, applicants must have a 3.6 high school grade point average, a minimum ACT score of 29, and attend a scholarship competition. The award is renewable for three additional years with a minimum of a 3.5 GPA.

Dickie, a recent graduate of Brandon High School, is the daughter of Laura Cecil and John Dickie.

Ashley Mankosa graduated from Michigan State University on May 8 with a bachelor of science degree in animal science.

The 2006 Brandon High School graduate has been accepted in the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine and will graduate in 2014 as a doctor of veterinary medicine.

Mankosa is the daughter of Marge and Greg Mankosa of Groveland Township.

Angie Pollack of Ortonville has been named a recipient of a Faculty Scholarship to Grand Valley State University.

Monica M. Lambert and Megan L. Ostrowski, both of Ortonville, graduated in May from Northern Michigan University.

Lambert received a bachelor of arts degree in political science/pre-law. Ostrowski received a bachelor of science degree in zoology.
