June 23, 2010 - Theme parks

Theme park discount tickets are available at the Brandon Township Parks and Recreation from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.during non-holiday weekdays. Tickets to Cedar Point, the Detroit Zoo, Michigan Adventure, Oakland County Waterford Wave and Red Oaks Water Park are available. Details: brandontownships\.us or 248-627-4640.

Golf lessons

Brandon Township Parks and Recreation offers instructional golf lessons to golfers 7 years and older from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., July 12 to Aug. 2 at the Goodrich Country Club, 10080 Hegel Road, Goodrich. Pro golfer Steve Carson will be instructing the students. The cost is $60 per player or $160 per family. Non-residents add $10 per player. Details: or 248-627-4640.

Folk Ensemble

From noon to 1:30 p.m., each Thursday folk ensemble practice will be conducted at the Old Town Hall, 486 Mill St. All folk instrument players are welcome to join the group. Details: 248-627-7445.

Moms club

A once-a-month meeting for stay-at-home moms who want to meet other moms in the area will meet at the Lake Louise Church of the Nazarene. Organized playgroups, kids' adventure days, monthly mom's night out. Details: 248-627-8912.


The Brandon School District has launched a new tool to keep parents, families, and the community updated on exciting events and happenings in the district. They are now on Facebook. The BEES program is a preschool program in the Brandon School District designed for children from birth to 5-years-old with developmental delays. The program is free and assists children who display a delay in one or more developmental areas. It meets throughout the school year to help children with delays in areas such as speech and language skills, motor skills, social skills and cognitive skills.

Golf outing

At 1 p.m., July 26 the Great Blue Heron Open benefit scramble golf tournament will tee off at Davison Country Club, 9512 Lippincott Blvd., Davison. All proceeds will benefit the North Oakland Headwaters Land Conservancy (NOHLC). The $95 fee per golfer includes 18 holes of golf with cart, grilled steak dinner, cash prizes for top three low gross teams, putting contest, closest to the pin, longest drive, and door prizes. Sponsorships are still available as the tournament nears.
