Dennis Churchill graduated with honors from Oakland University in June, receiving a bachelor of science degree in biology.

The Clarkston High School graduate is employed in research at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and is the son of LuAnn and Dennis Churchill of Clarkston. He is the grandson of Alice Churchill of Ortonville.

Rachel Giza was named to the dean's list for outstanding academic performance at Alma College for the winter term.

Students who achieve a 3.5 or better grade point average during a term, while carrying a minimum of 13 credits, at least eight of which are evaluative grades, are named to the Dean's List.

On the last day of school, Belle Ann Elementary School staff, students, and parents learned that their longtime school secretary, Ruth Rogan, had decided to retire.

Although it was a tough decision for Ruth, she felt it was time to move on. Ruth was employed by the Brandon School District for 34 years. She started as a reading recovery aide at Belle Ann Elementary in 1976, but spent the majority of her years working as the school secretary. Ruth truly loved her job and she always did so much more than was expected of her.

Ruth will be missed by her Belle Ann family and she is wished all the best in her future plans.
