Letter to the editor: Jury confused, Setty's sister says

July 07, 2010 - Dear editor,

Leon Setty was found guilty of "aiding and abetting" in the crime (Two convicted in 'sex slave' case, June 30).

Aiding and abetting means to somehow assist in the commission of a crime, or to be an accomplice.

There was absolutely no evidence shown in his trial that Lee was guilty of any charges.

I believe confusion in the meaning of "aiding and abetting" by the jury caused the guilty verdict.

Mere presence at the scene of a crime and even knowledge that a crime is being committed are not sufficient to establish that a person either directed or aided and abetted the crime.

The only crime that happened in that home was the emotional "outburst and lies" by a woman acting like a child when she didn't get her way and was asked to leave.

An appeal will be filed for my brother.
