July 07, 2010 - Coffee hour

A 63-year-old Brandon Township man was arraigned July 7 on one charge of criminal sexual conduct, second degree, in front of 50th District Court Judge Ronda Fowlkes Gross.

Kenneth Norman Long was apprehended July 6 at his home in the 1200 block of Kent Road by Brandon Township deputies and the Oakland County Fugitive Apprehension Team without incident. He was wanted on a felony warrant for criminal sexual conduct, 2nd degree that occurred in Pontiac in June.`

Oakland County Sheriff's Office Detective Dale Brown of the Brandon substation said the sex offense was committed against a child and no further details are currently available as the case is pursued.

Long is being held in the Oakland County Jail on a $1 million bond, no 10 percent.


From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Aug. 14, the Brandon Groveland Youth Assistance is sponsoring Skatefest Extravaganza, a skateboard and bike competition at the Ortonville Skate Park on Ball streets. Pre-registration is Aug. 5 and cost is $10. Register at the event for $15.

Volleyball camp

From 9 a.m.-1 p.m., July 12-15 a Brandon Girls' volleyball daycamp will be held the Brandon High School gym. The camp is designed for girls entering fifth -10th grade and is open to all schools. Players should bring tennis shoes, a water bottle and knee pads.
