August 04, 2010 - "Bucks for Buses" is back for its fourth annual fund raiser on Aug. 12 at BullFrogs Bar and Grill.

"It's a fund raiser for the transporation services for seniors and persons with disabilities," said Lois Sedden, president of the Friends of Independence Township Senior Adult Activity Center.

The evening will include Dr. Michael Baker's band, "40 Buffalo Band and Friends," as well as 50/50 drawing and prizes. The menu special will be the "Baker Burger," a healthy turkey burger on a whole wheat bun.

Last year, Independence Township Senior Center vehicles drove a total of 76,366 miles making 7,190 trips for community seniors and persons with disabilities to doctor appointments, dialysis treatments, grocery stores, pharmacies and more.

BullFrogs Bar and Grill is located at 2225 S. Ortonville Road. The event will be between 5-9 p.m. For more information call the Independence Township Senior Center 248-625-8231 or Kelly Hyer at Independence Township Parks and Recreation 248-625-8223.

I feel really positive about this event," Sedden said. "Last year we made quite a bit of money, raising $8,900."
