Oxford Township man, 67, gets six years in prison for molesting girls

August 04, 2010 - Oxford Township resident Joseph Anthony Barnowsky, 67 was sentenced to more than six years in prison after he pled not contest to molesting three teenage girls.

Barnowsky made his plea on June 29 and was sentenced on July 27.

Authorities say Barnowsky molested the girls, who range in ages 10 to 13, in two mobile homes in the Parkhurst Mobile Home Park.

He was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person younger than 13 and five counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person younger than 13.

The case was in front of Oakland Circuit Judge Rae Lee Chabot, who gave Barnowsky a sentence of 81 months to 50 years in prison on the first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges and 81 months to 15 years in prison on the charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Barnowsky worked for General Motors for 24 years before retiring due to health problems. When Barnowsky is released from prison, he will have to comply with DNA testing, have no contact with the victons and wear a GPS tether for life.
