Township man pleads guilty in home invasion case

August 04, 2010 - A Brandon Township man has pleaded guilty to home invasion after his neighbor caught him in the act.

Joshua Edward Johnson, 21, pleaded guilty July 22 to one count of second degree home invasion, a 15-year felony, in front of Sixth Circuit Court Judge Shalina Kumar. Sentencing is set for Aug. 10. Johnson remains in Oakland County Jail after being sentenced July 28 to nine months on a separate probation violation charge by 52-2 District Court Judge Joseph Fabrizio.

According to police reports, Brandon deputies responded about 3:30 p.m., June 11 to a residence in the 4300 block of Fir in the Sashabaw Meadows Mobile Home Park. The complainant said he had left his home for the store, but realized he'd forgotten his wallet and returned a few minutes later to find Johnson in his home. Johnson covered his face and exited the home, but his neighbor had already recognized him.

The homeowner advised that Johnson may have stolen his Methadone, Clonipin and Xanax prescription drugs.
