Corvette Weekend, starting Aug. 13

August 11, 2010 - Pine Knob Golf Course in Independence Township hosts Corvettes America car show, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14.

The show, celebrating its 10th anniversary, is an all volunteer effort staged by members of America's Corvette Club of West Bloomfield under the direction of President Richard Heldenbrand and Show Chairperson Tom Psillas. 

The show draws automotive enthusiasts from across Michigan, as well as surrounding states and Canada. It also has national ranking regularly drawing participants from California, Florida, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and New York. 

Special recognition is paid to all registered 1960 vintage Corvettes on the 50th anniversary of their manufacture.

Admission is $10 per vehicle. Proceeds are donated to local and national charitable organizations. 

In addition, Corvettes America hosts a Corvette Track Day at Waterford Hills Raceway and an evening Michigan-style barbeque at the Pine Knob Golf Course's outdoor Carriage House Pavilion, both Friday, Aug. 13. Paid admission to both is open to all with limited numbers admitted.

America's Corvette Club, which is sponsored by Cauley Chevrolet of West Bloomfield, is the largest Corvette club in Michigan. It is also ranked fourth in size nationally. Proceeds from the show are donated to local and national charitable organizations.
