August 11, 2010 - Coffee hour

There will be a coffee hour at 9 a.m., Friday, Aug. 27, at The Citizen, 12 South St., Ortonville. The public is welcome to attend and check out the new Ortonville 411 website. Details: 248-627-4332.

Goodrich village candidates

Two newcomers will challenge incumbents for three Goodrich Village Council seats in the November general election.

Village residents and first-time candidates Doug McAbee and Phil Jackson will challenge incumbents Ed York, David Lucik and Rick Horton. The two candidates who receive the most votes will serve four-year terms. The third greatest vote-getter will serve a two-year term.

Meeting cancelled

The Aug. 16, Atlas Township Board of Trustees meeting has been cancelled. The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 20.

GHS orientation

Visit Goodrich High School at 6:30 p.m., Aug. 25 to find out what to expect at GHS this year. Freshmen will receive their schedules, locker assignments, have school pictures taken, tour the building, and obtain administrative paperwork at this time. Students attending this session are not required to attend registration day. Parents are encouraged to attend.
