Beard-Petzold

Amber Megan Beard and Carl Robert Petzold are pleased to announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Brian and Kathy Beard of Goodrich. She is employed at Fromholz, Paauwe & Baker, P.C. in Flint. The groom-to-be is the son of Norman and Vera Petzold of Millington. He is employed at Yeo & Yeo, P.C. in Flint.

Amber and Carl are both graduates of the University of Michigan-Flint, where they met.

A November wedding is planned.

GVSU

Grand Valley State University held commencement exercises in May. Receiving degrees from Goodrich were Jameson R. Carbary, BS; Laura R. Haiderer, BSN; and Megan L. MacDougall, BSW.

Slogor-Stack

Ed and Libby Slogor of Burton are proud to announce the marriage of their daughter, Louisa Lynn Slogor, to Curtis Michael Stack, son of Robert and Mickey Stack of Goodrich.

Louisa and Curtis were married on July 17 at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church. The reception was held at the American Legion Hall in Davison. They honeymooned in northern Michigan, including Mackinac Island.

Louisa is a 2004 Goodrich High School graduate and a 2009 graduate of Western Michigan University, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and secondary education. She is currently employed with Sylvan Learning Center and will teach at Western Michigan University in the fall.

Curtis is also a 2004 Goodrich High School graduate and received his bachelor's degree May 1 in engineering graphics and design from Western Michigan University.

The couple will reside in Kalamazoo.

Military

Spc. Christopher Hubbard

Spc. Christopher Hubbard of Ortonville, a signal support systems specialist with the 593rd Sustainment Brigade, was acknowledged as the distinguished honor graduate of class number 010-10 during a Warrior Leader Course graduation ceremony July 28 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.

Twelve distinguished honor graduates are named each year at the base's month-long leadership academy out of 28,000 active duty servicemembers.

Hubbard attributed his success partially to his experience as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.
