August 25, 2010 - Dance class

From 3-6 p.m., Aug. 31 Brandon Community Education will host a open house at H.T. Burt Elementary School for fall dance classes. The public is invited to chat with Lynn Holiday to explore various styles of dance for all ages. Details: 248-627-1872.


The Brandon latchkey program is now enrolling for the 2010-2011 school year. The program offers care between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Daily activities and crafts are offered, as well as family discounts. Details: 248-627-1859.

Moms club

Beginning soccer

From 6- 7 p.m.,Tuesdays and Thursdays: Sept. 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30, Oct. 5 and 7, Brandon Township Community Park coed program introduces youngsters 3-6 years old to team sports and basic recreational soccer fundamentals. Eight sessions include instruction, drills and scrimmages to prepare youngsters for the next level. Bring a #3 soccer ball and full bottle of water to each session. At 2:30 p.m., Sept.11, the Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 South State Road, Goodrich will host a meeting to join Cub Scout Pack 340. Boys going into first grade in the fall are welcome to join. Designed for boys in first through fifth grade, cub scouting combines outdoor activities, sports and academics. OCEF sale

At 9 a.m., Sept. 13, clean and reusable items will be accepted at St. Ann Church, 825 Ortonville Road for the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund (OCEF) to benefit the local food pantry. Books, clothing, toys collectibles, household, tools, sporting goods and other items are needed. No large appliances, mattresses, used building supplies or items in need of repair. Golf outing

Check in will be 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., Sept. 18, at Devil's Ridge Golf Club, Oxford for the annual golf outing— a four person scramble to benefit the Brandon High School Hockey Club. Cost $90/player, $360/foursome, 18 holes with cart, longest drive/closest to the pin prizes, hot dog lunch at the turn, team skins available, filet and chicken dinner following golf Vegas hole, door prizes 50/50 Raffle. Wojo's Walkers

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept 25-26 the Wojo's Walkers will be hosting a community yard sale at Wojo's Greenhouse, 2570 Oakwood Road. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Ortonville Crop Walk. Yard sale donations are accepted at Wojo's Greenhouse daily 10 a.m.-5 p.m.. No clothing please. Crop Walk
